Second Technion-Cornell Innovation Institute Workshop Takes Place The second in a series of three Technion-Cornell Joint Workshops took place on September 10-11 at the Cornell NYC Tech campus in New York City. The workshop, which focused on the "Connective Media Hub" of the Technion-Cornell Innovation Institute (TCII), drew some 24 researchers from both institutions as well as representatives from industry, including Facebook, Google, Microsoft and the New York Times. Topics included social networks and human behavior; online markets, auctions, and games; and big data and machine learning. NYC Economic Development Corporation President Seth Pinksy, speaking at the event, said "The partnership between Cornell and the Techion will be transformative for the City and will cement our status as the leader in applied sciences and engineering, securing our economic future."
The goal of the workshops is to bring together relevant researchers from the Technion, Cornell University and industry, in order to share visions of where the field is headed, identify common topics of interest, share current projects and develop new research collaborations. The first workshop, held in July, focused on the “Healthier Life Hub.” The third workshop, on the “Built Environment Hub," is planned for October 15-16. The Technion's participation in these workshops has been generously funded by Technion Guardians Daniel and Joanna S. Rose. |
