"These results show the need for scientists and engineers, as well as the esteem in which Technion graduates and students are held by the country's leading companies," said Technion Dean of Students Professor Shimon Haber.

The role played by the Technion in Israel's economic development is well documented by statistics that include:

* 30 of Israel's 100 largest companies are managed by Technion graduates
* 75% of Israel's engineers were educated at the Technion
* 1/3 of Israeli high-tech companies on the NASDAQ are led by Technion grads

Home to the country's winners of the Nobel Prize in science, it commands a worldwide reputation for its pioneering work in nanotechnology, computer science, biotechnology, water-resource management, materials engineering, aerospace and medicine.
